Turns out, it has a 1.6L Turbocharged engine making 200 horsepower and 206 ft-lbs of torque under the hood.

Well it's technically a rebadged Opel, but yes it's coming over here as a Buick later this year.

It's like the entire rear fascia lifts away, taillights and all. Apparently, somebody on the FP was nice enough to tell me this, that these extra pair of lights are for if you want to carry oversize loads. I can kinda see the point, that boot is rather titchy.

Actually, if you want to carry oversize loads, you might as well get the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer. But unfortunately you can't, because it's not sold in the USA.

I knew it was a thing on the estate.

But didn't know it was on the cabriolet also. Nice touch really as to have a split tail light or a boot within the tail light area would seriously narrow the boot aperture.

I don't really understand why everyone is slamming this thing so much. It looks nice, is a convertible, and isn't another boring sedan. It's a risky product from a very conservative GM brand. Isn't that the Jalop kind of thing?

I think it's totally awesome that Buick is actually going to be selling something a bit out there. This is the only convertible GM sells outside of the Corvette and Camaro, and the fact that it's a Buick is surprising. It's quite the looker as well. I imagine them selling a good amount of them.

But the hate shouldn't be surprising because people hate on Buick in general.

I think a lot of people are missing the point of this car. It isn't a sports car. It's basically Buick's nicer Sebring. It is supposed to be a comfortable cruiser, not a hot hatch or anything overly exciting.

Exactly! It's a semi-affordable convertible that actually seats 4 in semi-comfort. It's not supposed to set your hair on fire, but rather let it feel the breeze with a few friends.

But to most on the FP, their is no use for a FWD vert. It's catered to old people, old people don't want something spine shattering and hard to get into.

The lines with the roof down bother me for some reason. But hate is a strong word for my opinion on it. Maybe I want a bit more tail/trunk behind the cabin area.

EU visibility regulations. Some of the lights must be visible with the boot open. The theory is that if you stop at night to change a tyre or whatever traffic coming from behind you will be able to see you.
